New Delhi — Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and German Chancellor Frederick Merz met in Gujarat state on Monday. The main objective of this meeting was to promote deep economic and security relations between the South Asian nation and Europe’s largest economy.
Modi and Merz Gandhinagar Discussed in the city, where both countries signed various agreements to enhance cooperation in defence sector, skill development, health and education. Both nations are working towards reducing their dependence on China and strengthening economic relations.
Major Discussion and Agreements
After bilateral negotiations, Prime Minister Modi mentioned that Germany is India’s most important business partner in the EU (EU). He said:
- New Area: Both country climate action, energy and rare earth elements (rare earth elements) Working on new projects in areas like mining.
- Defence Cooperation: A ‘Road Map’ is agreed to promote joint development and production between defence industries.
- Submarine Project: Germany’s ‘Taisenkrup’ company is expected to create six advanced traditional submarines in India together with Indian firms.
