Union Budget 2026 will be presented on Sunday Budget, Date, History and Expectations

The budget session of Parliament is starting from January 28. Economic Survey (Economic Survey) is to be introduced on January 29 and the presentation of the Union Budget 2026 will be on February 1.

The Cabinet Committee of Parliamentary Affairs has set up a budget session program. The main dates are as follows:

Session Duration: The budget session will start on 28 January 2026 and will last 2 April 2026.

Two phase: The first phase of the session will end on February 13, after which the second phase will begin from March 9.

Economic Survey 2025-26: It will be placed on the Patel of Parliament on 29th January 2026.

Union Budget 2026-27: It will be introduced on 1 February 2026.

Budget on Sunday: A rare event
This will be the first time when the central budget will be introduced on Sunday.

History: In 1999, the then Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha had introduced the budget on February 27 (Saturday) as was Sunday on February 28. The budget was mandatory to be introduced on the last day of February as per the tradition of that time.

Changes: The budget date in 2017 was changed from 28 February to 1 February so that the funds are allocated on time for the new fiscal year starting from 1 April.
